Let's catch up.

I've had a few days off from keeping you all in the loop. All has been well in the Egan-Syracuse household. We have had a guest this week. The one. The only. Sandy. Aunt Sandy. The woman is a blast. We have been very lucky this week. Thank you Sandy for visiting us!! You rawk. Really. She has taken some pressure off of me this week. A lot actually.
Emma is growing quickly and her personality is really developing. The interactions Colin and Emma have are so much more than just cohabitation. You can tell there is an honest bond forming. Gotta love that. Colin is really verbally missing his Daddy. This is completely heartbreaking but I am glad there is still a bond in Colin's mind with his dad. His dad is wonderful after all.
Speaking of Chris, he is doing pretty good. He is still playing Army man:

He is currently on another FOB called FOB Airborne. He was supposed to leave there a couple different times to go back to FOB Shank but things keep getting messed up. He is getting frustrated understandably...He is supposed to start going on missions in the next week or so. He will be able to receive mail at the same address while out and about so keep the mail coming his way.
All in all, we are doing well. Weather has been good and so has the company.
I want to make sure this is a shout out to Sadie since she turned ONE on Tuesday! We love her immensely!! :)
Love to you all.
p.s. Congrats to Marlon, Lisa and James on their move and getting settled in!! We miss you guys!! xoxo
p.p.s My brother, Rich gets home from Iraq in a little over a month!!! Yayyyyy!!!

A note from Chris on Memorial Day

So, here we are. The last week in May. Love it. It's all about small accomplishments. One more month down. About half way done. This week was pretty busy. We're still getting ready for this mission coming up on top of everything we else we do normally. It's been hectic. But, it also helps the time fly by which is great. If being busy is like a mini-fat forward button, I'm all for it. We went back to the site we're going to yesterday. Another nice hike up the mountains. I know I'm in the 10th Mountain Division and all, but it gets old. So, the Army already destroyed camping for me. I think I'm gonna taking hiking off that list too.
So, with Monday being Memorial Day, Tammy asked me this week what I think about it. That's actually a really great question. I'm honestly kind of torn. I think it's awesome we have a day to remember all of our fallen heroes. But, your average American could careless. For them it's just a free day off from work. Which is tragic. As I've said before, I don't do this for pats on the back from random strangers. But, for the guys that didn't get home, that's insulting. I actually try to take it like a normal day. I have lost alot of friends since these 2 wars have started. More that I care to admit. I know it comes with the job, but when you knew their kids and spend alot of time hanging out with them it really hurts when they fall. Alot of us that were here on the last deployment to Afghanistan still talk about CJ McClain and Ian Sanchez quite a bit. So, I don't need a specific day to think about them. I think about all of them alot. But, as I said before, we as a nation do. But, as the years go by and we as country become more liberal and stupid, things like remembering all those we gave everything for everybody become a side note. And that's almost as tragic as that of those who died.

Ok folks. I think that's it for this week. Next week is June and we're getting closer to getting out here. Until next week everybody!

Slan,
Chris
