So, even though today is Kaelynn's day to shine, I must alert the masses as to how proud of my little man I am. Today, I picked Colin up from school (by the way, it was the deepest freeze of cold if can ever remember) and his teachers came up to me and told me that Colin is extremely aware of his emotions and how people feel. The one teacher mentioned that she had yawned and he asked her if she is tired...then, someone was hurt at one point and he went right over to them and asked them if they were okay. She said these are just examples of how Colin is and how well he deals with people and their emotions. She said that it is very rare that a 2 1/2 yr old acts this way and this is more of the actions of a 4 or 5 yr old. Gots to say I am extremely proud of him and his courtesy to others and a lot of that comes from the company he keeps.
Colin watches people and copies their behaviors...he has the two most kind hearted grandmas ('gramma' and 'humma') on the planet. He also has a soft hearted Dad and a very affectionate mother. So there you go...Colin Egan, I am so proud of you buddy!!! xoxo

Miss Kaelynn Elizabeth Britton was born today!! She was 7lb 4oz. and 20 inches long. Andrea went through a lot today. The hospital admitted her early this morning and she stuck it out like a champ. She eventually had to have a c-section since the baby was coming down the canal face first. Poor little Kaelynn had some swelling and some slight bruising but she is healthy and the swelling is subsiding...
Yay for Dicky and his amazing wife for finally getting their little girl. They have been through a lot before getting pregnant with Miss Kaelynn. We are so excited for them and will keep you posted since lucky me, I get to see her in person on Tuesday!!
Look forward to posting tons of pictures! Stay tuned...xoxo

So the cold leaves us in the house...hmmph...it is supposed to snow quite a bit this afternoon so we also had to forgo our trip to Seneca Falls for today. Blah.
We did get to speak to Daddy for about 15 min this morning (PM for him). He is coming down with a bad cold but was in good spirits. He sent us some photos of the guys building their new TOC (Tactical Operations Center) at FOB (Forward Operating Base) Shank. I am just going to post the one of Chris for now...xoxo
ps- if you had trouble dropping comments on the posts, I fixed the error (i think)...thanks for letting me know Heidi!!
I love you Chris.
There are a few updates. My sister in law is still pregnant...poor thing. She is doing great and has Rich by her side which is awesome. Friday is the latest she will need to hang in there...I am so excited for them! Being a parent is THE BEST JOB EVER!
Chris is hanging in there. Goodness, I miss him. He is still sharing a tent but only with a few guys instead of with 80...he mentioned they will need to build the inside of the workspace they will have on the FOB. He still isn't able to hang up his pictures and stuff yet so he is still not settled. At least he will get his mail now.
Colin told his teacher that he loves whales and loves to watch them splash in the water. She commented how great of a memory Colin has. We will be going to see the whales in March so lucky for Colin!!
Next week (Jan 20-27), Colin, Emma and I will be in Colorado visiting Uncle Dicky, Aunt Andrea and Miss Kaelynn. We are so excited. Colin keeps saying 'help Uncle Dicky with the baby'. So adorable.
I have to get to bed but we are doing good and staying warm...trying to anyway.
xoxo
A fun little video of my little dolly rolling over. Her first success was last night at Colin's bedtime during our journal writing so we kinda missed it but noticed she had done it (the look on her face was priceless). Then, she was all about the repeat encore since she rolled over many more times afterwards and again on her back...now, the next day...I captured it on video for the Emma fans out there. Her mama is just so proud!
Colin and I decided that since it was so cold outside and there was no chance of us going out to play...we would have a picnic inside for dinner. We laid out a giant comforter and made mini waffle sandwiches and ate together. Dax was unto happy and felt left out. So we gave him some food too. Apparently, it is supposed to be single digits during the waking hours for the rest of this week and below zero through the night...yikes.
One more week today...we are off to Colorado to see Dicky, Andrea and Lil Miss Kaelynn Elizabeth. I hope for a safe and sane trip with my little love mites...sanity is over-rated. I will just settle for safe. They don't have long to go...they will induce her Friday if she doesn't deliver before then. I just am so so happy Dicky (Rich) will be home for this. Chris totally missed the birth of Colin...thank goodness for the phone so he atleast got to listen in...
Chris is finally at FOB Shank so yay! He can finally feel like he is contributing to the war or something. His emotions, not mine. I am personally grateful he is now in Intel and not managing a squad for this deployment; well, thus far anyway. This makes him just a tad safer.
Ok time to read some stories to my little man. xoxo
I am missing you like crazy today Chris. I am so in a daze that I honestly can not even remember if I spoke to you on the phone. Colin is drawing you a picture. I still haven't moved your boots out of sight. I haven't cleaned out any of your drawers...I guess if I do I think it will feel like you are really not coming home in the near future. Blah. I'm in denial and I am okay with that for now.
Just know you are thought of every minute of everyday.
We are doing great. We are excited about our trip to Colorado next week. Andrea is getting closer to pressing that little girl out. I can not believe my little brother is going to be a dad. It's really a creepy thought. He is going to be a great dad though...I personally have learned more from having kids that I have from anything else in life. My kids are seriously the best teachers.
Miss u Chris!!
